WASHINGTON — Nissan Motor Co. explained Thursday it will extend a shutdown of U.S. manufacturing vegetation right up until mid-Could, citing the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The automaker previously scheduled its manufacturing halt through April 27.
Nissan explained previous 7 days it put 10,000 U.S. hourly workers on unpaid furlough starting April 6. Subaru Corp explained Tuesday it options to restart manufacturing at its Indiana assembly plant on Could 11.
Some automakers have explained they hope to resume U.S. manufacturing on Could 4, but other auto executives think the field restart may possibly be pushed to mid-Could. Business and political leaders are speaking about options to restart the U.S. and regional economies.
