The 3D printed venture is a cooperation amongst the automaker, piston specialist Mahle and Trumpf
Porsche, with Mahle and Trumpf, is now generating pistons for the 911 flagship design, the GT2 RS, using a 3D printer.
The automaker and suppliers claimed 3D printing allows the pistons to be created with a construction that is optimised for the masses performing on them.
Pistons from this progress progress venture weigh ten% fewer than the cast series creation pistons.
They also have an integrated and shut cooling duct in the piston crown that could not have been made by typical techniques.
